Just west of the Death Valley National Monument is a fascinating place called Trona, tiny, but rich in evaporite deposits. The local club hosts an annual show and series of field trips.

Specimens can only be rinsed in the brine of the lake or a supersaturated salt solution. They will dissolve in tap water. [2]
